In Telegram, residents of the Urals called for secession from Russia: The messenger was punished

The Tagansky court of Moscow fined Telegram 4 million rubles for not removing several channels with calls to separate the Urals from the rest of Russia. This is stated in the court's decision, TASS reports.

Roskomnadzor sent Telegram notifications to the administration demanding the removal of several resources that contained calls for residents of the Urals to secede from the Russian Federation. The list also includes channels with propaganda of ultra-right ideas, as well as those calling for the support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The first to pay attention to these channels were the prosecutors, who transferred the data to Roskomnadzor, follows from the court decision.

"Roskomnadzor, as part of the fulfillment of the requirements for taking measures to restrict access to information resources, sent notifications to the owner of the Telegram information resource to the Telegram Messenger Inc. organization in electronic form about violation of the information dissemination procedure <>. Within the time period established by federal law — within a day from the moment of receipt of notifications — information disseminated in violation of the law has not been deleted from the Telegram information resource," the document says.

That the Tagansky court fined Telegram 4 million rubles for refusing to remove the banned in Russian information (part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code), reported on October 15. However, the reason for bringing the messenger to administrative responsibility has not been called so far. In August, Telegram was fined 4 million rubles for a similar offense.

Since February 2021, Roskomnadzor has been regularly drawing up administrative protocols regarding social networks and messengers that have not deleted calls to participate in unauthorized actions, including to minors, as well as for publishing other information, the dissemination of which in Russia is prohibited.

So, in July, the Tagansky court issued a messenger a fine of 3 million rubles. for failure to remove calls for anti-government actions. In June 2023, Telegram also received a fine of 4 million rubles after refusing to delete 32 channels, which, according to the court, published untrue information about the war in Ukraine.
