Russian journalist Inessa Papernaya, who worked in the magazine "Profile", as well as the publication "Lenta.<url>", died in a hotel in Tashkent due to poisoning with an unknown substance. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan.
According to the Baza telegram channel, Papernaya came to Uzbekistan on vacation. She and her companion stayed at the Karaman Palace Hotel.
"In the evening of October 20, Inessa received a package. The hotel staff could not get through to the guest, no one answered the knock on the door either. We decided to open the number. There were two bodies inside: Papernaya and her friend," the telegram channel claims.
According to the preliminary version, the victims were poisoned by gas that got into the ventilation system after cleaning the pool. The gas went up the riser and entered the room.
"After the incident, Karaman Palace was sealed, and an investigation is underway. The journalist's body will be delivered to Moscow within two days," the publication also says.
The publication "Profile" was informed about the death of Papernaya by her mother, Lyubov Papernaya.

The staff of the magazine expressed deep condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased journalist.
