A criminal who beat a Russian tourist was detained in Abkhazia

A man who beat up a Russian tourist in a cafe in Abkhazia was detained, the republic's Interior Ministry reports.

"The Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Abkhazia has opened a criminal case against Kwekveskiri Akhra Gennadievich, born in 1990, suspected of intentionally causing moderate harm to health, committed for hooligan motives, as well as a death threat to a resident of Cherkessk, born in 1989," the material on the agency's website says.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Abkhazia, on August 2, the suspect tried to get acquainted with the victim in one of the local cafes, but, having been refused, provoked a conflict. He used physical force against the victim, as a result of which the woman received bruises and abrasions of the upper and lower extremities, bruised and lacerated facial wounds, brain concussion and closed craniocerebral trauma.

As noted in the material of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during the attack the suspect violated the conditions of house arrest imposed on him as a defendant in a criminal case of kidnapping, extortion, robbery, illegal possession of firearms. He is now in custody.
