The Belarusian opposition has a "common strategy" for the upcoming presidential elections in the republic in 2025. This was stated by the fugitive oppositionist Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
According to her, "the election cycle in Belarus ended in 2020 and what will be organized by the regime of Alexander Lukashenko in 2025 has nothing to do with the electoral process at all."
"It will be Lukashenka's appointment of himself. It will be, I don't know, a circus, some kind of Soviet ritual. But absolutely not elections," she said.
Tikhanovskaya said that Lukashenka "will conduct this ritual, and we, as a democratic movement, will simply take advantage of this situation for political mobilization of Belarusians." She stressed that the opposition will have a "common strategy" for the Belarusians who left and stayed in the country, and in general a "campaign to delegitimize Lukashenka" is planned.
Recall that the next presidential election in Belarus should be held no later than July 20, 2025. The current head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, has not yet officially announced his participation in them. Despite this, the fugitive Belarusian opposition has already stated that they will seek non-recognition of future elections by the international community.
