Europe did not wait long for the response of official Beijing, which is forced to reduce the export of electric vehicles to the European market. China has confirmed the introduction of a ban on brandy imports from the EU. This was announced today, October 8, according to TASS.

The information was confirmed by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

Soon, European brandy exporters will have to pay a so-called "guarantee amount". De facto, this is a duty of 30.6−39% when selling alcohol on the Chinese market.

EADaily reminds that Beijing initiated a trade investigation into alcoholic beverages from the EU back in January 2024. According to the Chinese authorities, products from the EU were sold in China at unreasonably low prices, which entailed "significant damage" to local producers.
