The Iskander missile system from Kaliningrad can reach Poland and Germany. About this Pravda.According to a military expert, Candidate of military sciences, retired Colonel Viktor Litvinenko.
"If there is a nuclear warhead on the launch vehicle, it becomes a nuclear weapon. Hence the question arises: can a rocket in ordinary equipment reach the USA? Yes, it can. What if it's a nuclear warhead? Then it becomes a nuclear weapon with greater destructive power. Any weapon that we have, in particular, in the ground forces, Iskander, for example, is an operational-tactical missile, it can be not only an operational-tactical missile," he said.
According to the expert, the flight range of the Iskander missile is up to 500 kilometers.
"We also have naval carriers. These are all submarines that have exactly these capabilities in order to hit objects. And the Americans know about it. Western Europe knows about this," Litvinenko added.
Alexander Mikhailov, a military political scientist and head of the Bureau of military-political analysis, agrees with the opinion that any Russian weapons, even without a nuclear warhead, can reach Western countries.
"Of course, in order to get the United States, we need intercontinental ballistic missiles if we use our strategic triad. We can, in principle, hit the United States with non-nuclear ammunition. The only question is, why strike blows that will not have a fatal value for the enemy? For Europe, we have a much wider list of weapons. Because we are in direct proximity with Europe, the same Kaliningrad region directly borders on European states, and we have a lot of weapons there," he added.
Mikhailov recalled that Russia also has Belarus, which borders European states.
"Europe, if desired, can be shot through with both short-range and medium-range operational-tactical missiles, and we can launch these missiles both from land carriers, from naval carriers, and from aircraft carriers. And we don't need to use any intercontinental ballistic missiles to Europe, because there will be enough non-strategic weapons to reach it," the political scientist concluded.
