The alleged shooter who attempted to assassinate US presidential candidate Donald Trump turned out to be 58-year-old US resident Ryan Routh from Hawaii, writes the New York Post.
"Law enforcement sources have identified the suspect as 58-year—old Ryan Wesley Routh," the publication says.
The article notes that Raut has a criminal record, he often wrote about politics and since 2019 has made donations exclusively to candidates from the Democratic Party.
Earlier on Sunday, a shooting occurred near Trump's golf club in Florida. CNN, citing sources, reported that the authorities regard the incident as an attempt to assassinate a politician. The ex-president himself is "safe," his campaign headquarters assured him.
