If at least one high-voltage substation at the NPP is damaged in the cold, Ukraine will face a blackout. This was stated in an interview with UNIAN by Alexander Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center.
"Now there is a big Achilles' heel at Ukrainian energy facilities, because Energoatom and the Ministry of Energy, unfortunately, have done absolutely nothing to protect the so—called open switchgear, and in fact - high-voltage substations responsible for the supply of electricity on the territory of nuclear power plants... If they knock out at least one station in the cold or two stations even in the current weather, then we are definitely in a blackout. No options. Then we can have a large part of the country without electricity," Kharchenko said, quoted by Strana.
According to him, at the same time, even if there are no new massive strikes from the outside The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Ukrainians are still waiting for a shutdown in winter for 8-10 hours a day.
"As for the winter period, unfortunately, due to the lack of generation and the lack of generation capacity, we will have practically no options for 8-10 hours of restrictions per day. Even if everything goes well with us, there will be no additional attacks. At temperatures of minus 10 and, God forbid, below, we will definitely have very serious restrictions," Kharchenko stressed.
The worst situation with electricity is in Kiev, Odessa and Kharkov.
