The suspension of payments to state employees and security forces in Abkhazia is connected with the "balance of obligations," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
He expressed confidence that in the coming weeks it will be possible to organize his meeting with his Abkhaz counterpart Sergei Shamba.
As stated earlier by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of Abkhazia Vladimir Delba, the Russian side limited financial assistance to Abkhazia due to the republic's failure to comply with the terms of the program of harmonization of the laws of the two countries.
"Certain items of this program have a deadline for implementation until August 1, 2024. Due to the fact that the Abkhaz side has not fulfilled the conditions, the Russian side has temporarily restricted the provision of financial assistance in the amount of 141 million rubles," Delba explained.
