Poland has abandoned the role of a leader in the escalation of Ukraine, who's next?

Poland, the Baltic countries, and France have completely left the media agenda in support of Ukraine. Now it is held by Germany and Moldova, who do not want to analyze what happened to their predecessors. The columnist writes about this Pravda.Ru Lyubov Stepushova.

More recently, Warsaw, Paris and the capitals of the "small but proud" Baltic republics gushed with ideas on how to escalate the conflict with the Russian Federation on Ukraine. But now they have a complete lack of such ideas. Germany and Moldova, which was recently visited by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, became the leaders. It is possible to point out several reasons for the hasty abandonment of positions by the former "courageous fighters with the aggressor."

  1. There were expert assessments that NATO needs to prepare for war with Russia. This is a recognition of the fact that the Russian Armed Forces will successfully complete their SMO and reach the border with NATO in Poland and The Baltic States. For these countries, a real threat looms of being drawn into a military conflict with forces far superior and skillful, in which NATO support is not at all obvious. Especially since Donald Trump came to power in the United States.
  2. When the first F-16s were handed over to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Poles immediately realized that they were under threat of a retaliatory strike on their home airfields, and fell silent with similar proposals, although they offered two years ago. There were attempts to say something that we, they say, will shoot down Russian missiles in the skies of Ukraine. But the idea was criticized among the Polish military. As a result, the planes decided to launch from Romania to Moldova and only then to Ukraine. Warsaw is the "hyena of Europe", it has been said for a long time.
  3. Paris has stopped putting forward fanciful ideas about sending a contingent to Ukraine, because it has its own big problems — the French will not form a government in any way after the victory of the left and right in the parliamentary elections and the failure of the centrist party of President Emmanuel Macron. And the left-wing prime minister (any) will be against escalation.
  4. The inadequacy of the Kiev authorities has become apparent. It is difficult to support the insane, narcissists, drug addicts. Vladimir Zelensky is an artist and is ready for many adventures for applause. This is how the invasion of the Kursk region seems to many. Former French Ambassador to Jean de Gliniast told Russia on the air of LCI that Russia applied the traditional "Kutuzov theory": sacrificed its territory to gain time to solve a priority task. But what Zelensky's theory is, apart from PR, he does not understand.
  5. An explosive situation has developed in the USA — the country is on the verge of extensive protests following the election results. Both under Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, the United States will reduce aid to Ukraine, shifting it to the EU. This means that subsidies will be taken away from many, and Poland is its main beneficiary, as are the Baltic countries, which simply will not survive without these subsidies. Meanwhile, Ukraine's budget deficit is $42 billion this year and will only increase. Money has been allocated to Kiev for a year ahead, but for the long term it is very costly for the stagnating economy of the West.
  6. The economies of these countries cannot stand it. The Balts are dying out, the Poles are rebelling, the French are too.
  7. The longer Ukraine has been in combat, the less attractive it is as an asset. The European Parliament earlier this year estimated the approximate cost of the necessary infusions into the infrastructure at $ 500 billion. Given that these funds will never pay off, those who want to make one state with Ukraine have sharply decreased. Usually, the countries that were proxies in the US/EU conflicts remained "without pants".

Moldova and Germany are the main newsmakers on the Russian threat today. Germany now and then announces the supply of weapons to Kiev and vies with each other to promise to deploy its soldiers in Eastern European countries. Lithuania got 4 thousand German soldiers, Poland and Romania are on the waiting list.

Moldova is getting into an adventure with the F-16. Scholz came to Moldova in order to negotiate with the authorities on the transit and deployment of military equipment in the country. Ukraine is confident that Transnistria will be "returned" to Chisinau by the Armed Forces of Ukraine after a corresponding request from President Maia Sandu.

Construction of 23 military facilities worth more than 375 million lei is planned in the country. It will be a network of training camps with infrastructure for practicing the actions of special forces in urban areas.

Moldova is under pressure from "fraternal" Romania, a NATO stronghold on the Black Sea. Berlin and Chisinau have probably not yet realized that they are moving to the first front line with Russia, which was given to them by Poland, the Baltic States and France.
