A US citizen was detained in Moscow on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. This was announced today, August 14, by the press service of the capital's headquarters of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code (use of violence against a government official). Investigative actions are being carried out with the defendant, he will be charged in the near future," the statement said.
TC 112 provides details. 46-year-old American Joseph Tager staged a brawl in the luxury Radisson hotel because of his refusal to show documents about the place of his previous residence, and then continued to bully and be rude in the police department where he was taken. Although Tager said several articles of the Criminal Code, including for insulting the President of Russia, he was issued only under an administrative article for hooliganism.
