Dozens of military personnel The Russian Armed Forces are being trained in Iran on the use of the Fath-360 short-range ballistic missile system. It is reported by Reuters, citing two sources in European intelligence.
According to officials, Russian military personnel have arrived in Iran to learn how to operate the Fath-360 system, which launches missiles with a maximum range of 120 km and a warhead of 150 kg. The "only possible" step after the training will be the actual delivery of missiles to Russia, said one of the sources.
Representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry are supposed to have signed a contract in Tehran on December 13 for the supply of the Fath-360 and another ballistic missile system created by the Iranian State Aerospace Industry Organization (AIO), Ababil OP, two intelligence officials said, the agency reports.
Deliveries of Fath-360 can allow Russia to use more of its arsenal for targets behind the front line, while Iranian warheads can be used to destroy targets at a closer distance, a military expert said.
