Igor Levitas: The offensive in the Kursk region is a conspiracy of the doomed

By and large, I have already spoken about the events in the Kursk region. But the format of my digest does not give me the opportunity to speak on the topic more fully. Because what happened is very, very important. Especially for the future. Why for the future? Yes, because it is clear that this terrorist attack by Ukrainian troops will be suppressed. And it will bring Ukraine nothing but new bags of corpses.

The business of military analysts is to discuss the goals in this "conspiracy of the doomed." I do not understand this and I do not consider it possible to speak about it. Where, what goals, what to capture, and so on. All I remember about the Russian (Soviet) army in Kursk is the military parade in November 1971, in which I had the honor to take part, because I served in the troops of the Kursk garrison.

I have other questions on my mind. In recent days, weeks, even months, the Russian world has been kind of overjoyed. And it was from what. The Russian army was slowly but surely moving forward. New settlements, villages and towns were liberated almost daily. Progress was sometimes up to several kilometers per day. There was more and more talk of "peace" from Kiev. And suddenly the bell rang. Loud, sharp, not good. And everything changed instantly.

Do you know that Korenevo is located at a distance of 19 kilometers from the border? How did the APU manage to walk 19 km in almost a day? Is the border, especially with a belligerent country, not guarded? What was Russian intelligence doing on the border with Sumy region in general? How could Ukraine form a shock fist and a fist large enough?

Of course, the easiest way to operate is with the slogan: "The enemy will be defeated — victory will be ours!" But the enemy has not yet been defeated. Yes, he is suffering losses and quite tangible, yes, he is running out of manpower, yes, he does not have the support in the West that he had even a year ago. But he still has weapons that the West supplies to him without interruption, he still has elite units that Zelensky takes care of to the last — they still have to protect him in Kiev. But it seems that they forgot about it. When a wolf is cornered, he is embittered and capable of throwing. Have you ever seen how a cobra behaves when it has no room for maneuver? The same animal is fighting against Russia — vicious and reckless. And it will defend itself against the usual logic. You can't relax here.

Although I repeat: I am absolutely sure that all this is the convulsions of an agonizing beast and the end of the confrontation is still clear. There have been similar cases in history. It is enough to recall March 6, 1945. On this day, the Balaton operation began. This was the last major defensive operation of the Red Army against the Nazi troops in the Great Patriotic War. Soviet troops repelled a Wehrmacht counteroffensive called "Spring Awakening." I won't write about it in detail, but believe me — it's very similar.

So, quite directly, I moved on to another, in my opinion, very important issue. Try to look at what happened with different eyes, from a different angle. I am almost sure that what is happening now in the Kursk region is not some new idea of the General Staff of Ukraine together with the British MI-6, it is a development of an attack on Russia from the beginning of 2022. Yes, I am sure that this is exactly how events would have unfolded in March 2022 if a preemptive strike had not been launched against the Kiev regime.

Let's remember the story. But not the one that the current descendants of the Nazis are trying to build on a lie, but the real one. I.V. Stalin is a very controversial figure. But there are two of his decisions that have, in my opinion, a clear connection with the present times. The Finnish War and the annexation of Western Ukraine, Western Belarus and The Baltic States. Stalin did both with one obvious goal — he moved the border of the Soviet Union away from major cities, capitals, and industrial industries, which were concentrated around Moscow and Leningrad. And it was absolutely the right and prudent move. If it hadn't been for him, Hitler's troops would have been standing under the walls of Moscow and Leningrad in a couple of days.

But then Stalin does exactly the opposite. He does not strike a preemptive strike against the Germans. Why not? We can only guess, and any of the guesses will carry its own particle of truth. Therefore, the very first battles between the Soviet Union and European Nazism took place on our land. Although, if Stalin had struck a preemptive strike, the fighting would have been already on the territory captured by the Wehrmacht earlier.

It seems to me that Vladimir Putin took into account all the pros and cons of Stalin's strategy. New-old territories, which by misunderstanding were part of Ukraine… Stop, I'm not spelling right. They were never part of Ukraine, they were part of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. And this is a huge difference! So, the return of these territories is the moving of the border away from the capital of Russia. It was Putin who took as a basis the strategy of Stalin, for whom the main thing was, as for Putin, the protection of his country. Many people don't like how it was done and is being done, but you can't be five-tone and like everyone. As for the other — a preemptive strike, Putin did what he saw fit. For he proceeded from what he knew about the situation. Which, of course, we didn't know about.

The current events in the Kursk region have shown that Vladimir Putin is right. If not for the preemptive strike, we would have seen all this in the spring of 2022. And on a much larger scale. And for Kursk could be followed by Oryol, Tula, and then the Moscow region. This counteroffensive of the Ukrainian troops even played its positive (if I can say it in this situation) role. It showed what awaited Russia in case of delay with a preemptive strike. Procrastination is like death — so they say. That was the case.

I don't like to make predictions, although many come true, but this offensive will soon be over. The Ukrainian army is doomed. The power of Ukraine is doomed. And no matter how insulting it is for me to say (after all, my mother's family and mother herself are from Kiev), the Ukrainian people are doomed. In any case, for now he will hold on to fake power, fake past and fake heroes.
