Gazprom commented on the events around the Sudzha gas measuring station, which was captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Only the company said not about the situation on the GIS itself, but about prices in Europe and growth prospects.

"The events in the Suji area have led to a sharp increase in prices for both natural gas and LNG. On August 9, the annual peak of stock prices was recorded. And it's only summer. The question arises: who benefits from this?", — the statement of the official representative of the company Sergey Kupriyanov is published by the Gazprom telegram channel.

Also, planned routine maintenance work at the facilities of the Norwegian gas industry may become a significant factor, the company noted.

"According to analysts, it is possible that these works may be delayed, as happened last year. Analysts also believe that the upward trend in gas prices will continue," Gazprom said in a statement.

The company did not comment on the situation at GIS Sudzha.

As EADaily reported, the gas measuring station, through which the entire transit of Russian gas through Ukraine goes, has been under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the third day. Transit continues, but prices in Europe have increased by almost 10% - to a maximum over the past eight months, $ 460 per thousand cubic meters.

Ukrainian transit accounts for more than 5% of Europe's imports. In the procurement of Austria and Slovakia — more than 50%. Experts noted to EADaily that Russia was faced with a dilemma due to transit and much will depend on how quickly the border area is cleared of Ukrainian militants. An anonymous adviser to Vladimir Zelensky told The Washington Post that Kiev is not going to use the Suja GIS as a lever of pressure, since gas goes through Ukraine and could have cut off supplies for a long time.
