The offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Russian Kursk region is a sovereign decision of Ukraine. This was stated at a briefing by US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
"We are in contact with the Ukrainians regarding the operation they undertook on the other side of the border today... but ultimately the decisions on how to conduct their operations are the decisions of Ukraine itself," Miller said, quoted by RIA Novosti.
At the same time, he noted that Ukraine had not informed the United States in advance of its intention to launch an offensive in the Kursk region, but Washington does not consider this to be something unusual.
Ukraine's actions in the Kursk region do not violate US restrictions on the use of American weapons supplied to Kiev, the State Department spokesman added.
As reported by EADaily, Washington asked the Ukrainian authorities to provide information about the attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Russian Kursk region. This was stated at a briefing for journalists by the coordinator for strategic communications in The White House National Security Council, John Kirby.
"As you might expect, we turned to our Ukrainian colleagues to better understand [the situation in the Kursk region]," Kirby said, quoted by TASS.
