Drinking from plastic bottles can raise blood pressure due to microplastics entering the bloodstream. It is reported by the English Daily Mail with reference to the results of research by Australian scientists.
Scientists have concluded that bottled drinks are harmful, and hypertension can be cured with simple tap water.
Microplastics, according to the results of the study, were found in the contents of not only plastic, but also glass bottles. According to experts, the increase in blood pressure associated with the use of microplastics can lead to an increased risk of heart disease. It is noted that as soon as the participants of the experiment stopped drinking liquids, including water, from plastic and glass containers, and drank only tap water for two weeks, their blood pressure dropped.
"After extensive research, we have come to the conclusion that drinks packaged in plastic bottles should be especially avoided. The changes that we observed in blood pressure suggest that reducing the consumption of plastic particles can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease," the Austrian scientists noted.
