The troops of the Kiev regime during the Russian offensive could not hold their positions near Toretsk due to poor orientation on the ground and inept command.
The American edition of The New York Times (NYT) writes about this in its article, referring to the Ukrainian military themselves. According to them, the confusion began during the rotation that the Ukrainian military command conducted in the area of Toretsk.
As part of this process, units of the 41st Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were sent to the positions. She was supposed to replace the 24th Brigade, which had been in positions near Toretsk for a long time, and which was transferred to the Chasova Yar area.
As the Ukrainian military told the publication, during the rotation that began, it immediately became clear that the 41st Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was not ready to complete the task.
Ukrainian units could not defend themselves in conditions of complete ignorance of the terrain, as well as unsatisfactory response of commanders to the changing situation.
According to the newspaper, as a result, a chaotic situation was created in which the orders given had already lost all meaning by the time they reached the units.
In this situation, the 41st Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was unable to provide serious resistance to the advancing Russian troops. The compound suffered heavy losses, and the positions near Toretsk "fell in a matter of days."
Earlier, EADaily reported that according to Ukrainian sources, Russian units entered the Toretsk and established fire control over the settlement of Nelipovka. It is also noted that in In New York (Novgorod), the situation is "very sad."
