The Joe Biden administration has demonstrated injustice, indifference and double standards by not achieving inclusion in the prisoner exchange list of ex-employee of the United States Embassy in Moscow Mark Vogel, convicted in Russia for 14 years for drug smuggling. This was stated by the Fogel family.
"It is inconceivable that the US government, which secured the release of other Americans and even foreign citizens who were detained much later than Mark, refused to do the same for Mark Vogel. Such blatant injustice and indifference are unacceptable. This is wrong and dishonest," the statement said, quoted by TASS.
Vogel is "not rich, not famous, he has no powerful patrons," so his 95-year-old mother and family members are fighting for him, but "this struggle is accompanied not by support and understanding, but by resistance and double standards," his relatives emphasized.
As EADaily reported, Mark Vogel, a teacher at the Anglo-American school in Moscow, was detained on August 14, 2021 at Sheremetyevo Airport while passing the "green corridor". During customs control, marijuana and hashish oil were found in his luggage. Vogel received 14 years in prison for drug smuggling.
