In the event of the appearance of American medium-range missiles in Europe, Russia will consider itself free from a unilateral moratorium on the deployment of such complexes. This statement was made today, July 28, by President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the main naval parade in St. Petersburg.
According to Putin, Russia sees that important Russian facilities with a flight time of about 10 minutes will be in the range of American missiles in Germany.
"The statements of the American administration and the German government about plans to deploy American long-range precision missile systems on the territory of Germany from 2026 are noteworthy. Important Russian state and military administration facilities, our administrative and industrial centers and defense infrastructure will be within its reach, and the flight time to targets on our territory of such missiles, which in the future may be equipped with nuclear warheads, will be about 10 minutes. If the United States implements such plans, we will consider ourselves free from the previously assumed unilateral moratorium on the deployment of medium- and shorter—range strike weapons, including increasing the capabilities of the coastal forces of our Navy," the Russian president warned.
Putin also noted that the United States is escalating tensions because of the flights of Russia's strategic aviation, although they themselves have always patrolled the Russian borders.
