Kremlin: Kuleba's statement on readiness for negotiations is in unison with Moscow's position

The statement by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba about Kiev's desire and willingness to negotiate with Moscow is in unison with the Kremlin's position, but we need to wait for further clarification. This was stated to journalists by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

"You and I really know from the messages from Beijing reported that such a statement was made at the meeting with Mr. Wang Yi. By itself, the message can be said to be in unison with our position. You know that the Russian side has never refused to negotiate, has always maintained its openness to the negotiation process, and here the details are important, which you and I do not yet know. Therefore, we will probably wait for some further clarifications," said a Kremlin spokesman, quoted by TASS.

As the Kremlin spokesman stressed, "the Russian side has never refused to negotiate, has always maintained its openness to the negotiation process."

EADaily recalls: earlier, Kuleba, during talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Guangzhou, announced Ukraine's preparations for dialogue and negotiations with Russia. He noted that "negotiations should be rational and meaningful, aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace."

Earlier today, at a briefing, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, noted that Kiev and its curators in the West had not taken any real steps to lift the ban on negotiating with Russia:

"Nothing has been done by anyone — neither [Vladimir] Zelensky, nor his administrations or other branches of government, nor Western curators to repeal the law prohibiting Ukraine from negotiating with Russia. We hear a lot of words, but we don't see any deeds in principle. Well, except that Zelensky continues to crack down on the citizens of Ukraine."
