Bill Gates, not Russian President Vladimir Putin, brought the world to its knees today. This was stated by Italian blogger Andrea Lombardi.
This is how Lombardi commented on today's massive technical glitch in Windows.
"It is Bill Gates, not Putin has brought the world to its knees today. Flights have been canceled, hospitals are not working, trains are stopped, the whole world is involved in this thanks to Windows," the blogger writes on his social network account.
Problems in the Microsoft operating system due to an unsuccessful update by CrowdStrike disrupted the operation of computers around the world, the Bild telegram channel in Russian reports. The aviation industry was allegedly particularly affected: due to a global IT glitch at Delhi Airport, the schedule was handwritten on a blackboard.
It is noted that multibillion-dollar lawsuits may be filed against CrowdStrike due to a global IT failure.
This was stated, in particular, by Oliver Roth, chief trader of the Franco-German financial group Oddo BHF Bank, to Bild.
"The damage caused around the world could lead to a wave of lawsuits for the company worth billions of euros, especially in the United States itself. Insurers who compensate for this damage will also be punished. There is no end in sight to the fall [of stocks] yet," he said.
Meanwhile, the management of CrowdStrike stated that the cause of the global failure was problems with the update, noting that the bug had already been fixed. Affected users need to install a new update.
