A final decision on response to Great Britain will be taken by President Vladimir Putin personally, Russian President’s Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on March 16.
“No doubt, he will choose the option that will most meet interests of the Russian Federation,” he said.
Peskov noted that Russia’s reciprocal actions against Great Britain will not be long in coming. The proposals will be formulated by the foreign ministry and other institutions.
As EADaily reported earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Moscow will expel British diplomats from the country in response to a UK announcement that it would expel 23 Russian diplomats under the case of poisoning of former Russian security service colonel Sergei Skripal. The Russian embassy in the UK sent several diplomatic notes to the UK Foreign Office aimed at starting an active dialog with the official London on the situation with the use of chemical weapons in the British territory. As spokesperson for the Russian foreign ministry Maria Zakharova said, the notes were calling for starting joint work, sharing materials and all possible information.
