Lugansk People's Republic skeptical about USA joining talks on Donbass

The leadership of the Lugansk People’s Republic is skeptical about the USA joining the negotiation process over the situation in Donbass, LPR representative in the Contact Group Vladislav Deynego told Rossiya-1 TV-channel on May 17.

“I am skeptical about the USA entering the Donbass talks. Bringing initiator of the collision into conflict settlement is like making a bear manager of a beehive,” he mentioned.

Earlier, US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said in Kiev that the USA wants to expand its participation in ensuring the implementation of the Minsk agreements, together with the EU and the "Normandy Four" countries.

In his turn, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov noted that the USA is showing interest not only to the “Normandy Four”, but to the Contact Group on Ukraine as well, while the Russian foreign ministry sees no sense in it.

“I have spent a lot of time examining speeches and statements and analyzing what is said in contacts with us and our representatives behind closed doors,” he said. “I have fixed aspiration of the American side to join our activity in the groups, but we see neither reason nor sense in it.”
