Washington is alarmed by Iran's repeated threats to kill Donald Trump and some of his former high-ranking generals and national security specialists.
The American edition of Politico writes about this, citing its own sources. In their opinion, Tehran thus intends to take revenge on the United States for the death of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in 2020.
The newspaper assures that it has consulted on this topic with 24 informed persons, among whom there are former parliamentarians, Secret Service agents and high-ranking officials.
They told about attempts to conduct digital surveillance of former civil servants and their family members. They also reported on the desire of alleged operatives from Iran to track down an American official during his trip abroad.
At the same time, it is noted that former employees of the National Security Council are forced to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to ensure their security, as they do not receive any protection from the American authorities.
Recall that on the night of January 3, 2020, as a result of an operation conducted by the United States near Baghdad International Airport, an Iranian general, commander of the IRGC special forces, Qassem Suleimani, was killed.
Together with him, the deputy head of the Iraqi Shiite militia, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, was killed. In response, Iran attacked American bases in Iraq, including Ain al-Assad.
As EADaily reported, earlier US President Joe Biden called on the Iranian government to "stop plotting" against presidential candidate Donald Trump and former US officials.
