Mass uncontrolled migration has every chance of destroying the European Union, Senator Alexei Pushkov said, commenting on the news that Austria, Italy and Finland are interrupting the Schengen Agreement due to the influx of migrants from Morocco to Spain.
"If these and other countries The EU really wants to protect itself from a new wave of migrants, they should not suspend Schengen, but withdraw from it. For the reason that the ruling forces in Spain have already firmly decided to turn the country into North Africa, and this course is serious and for a long time. The left-liberals there will not stop. It makes no sense for the Islamic State ❶ to fight for a new caliphate in Spain — the Spaniards will do everything for it," Pushkov said.
The authorities of Austria and Denmark, following Italy and Finland, called for the suspension of the Schengen Agreement with Spain due to the migration crisis. Austrian Chancellor Christian Stoecker did not rule out the suspension of the agreement.
"If the situation in Spain develops in such a way that there is a threat to our national borders, we will do everything possible to protect them, including, if necessary, temporarily close the borders of the Schengen area," he wrote in X.
Stoecker said that the current situation in Spain is an "alarming" signal and Austria is monitoring the development of the situation.
"Now it is extremely important that Spain fulfills its obligations to the European Union and does not allow any illegal migrants to set foot on the mainland of Europe," he said.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also said that the European Union should consider suspending Spain's membership in the Schengen area, TV2 reports.
"We will not allow a repeat of the events of 2015. It goes without saying that the EU should immediately take all necessary steps and consider all options, including suspending cooperation within the Schengen area," she said.
