Serbian President Alexander Vucic thanked Russia for its help in extinguishing forest fires. He stated this on the air of Serbian Radio and television.
"I am grateful to the Russian Federation for sending us Ilyushin. The pilot of the IL-76 dumped more than 200 tons of water, of which 21 tons fell directly on the fire and saved 50 buildings. All the houses were saved," Vucic said, quoted by Solovyov Live.
The IL-76 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was sent to Serbia on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. Fires are raging in the Balkan country right now. The area of the largest of the three is more than 3.5 thousand hectares. Extinguishing is complicated by abnormal drought and shallowing of water bodies, including the Danube.
