The Italian mafia buys drones on the black market "as on Ukraine". This is reported by the ANSA agency.
According to the chief prosecutor of Palermo Maurizio de Lucia, law enforcement officers have already discovered a shipment of weapons that arrived in Italy from the Balkans.
"We have information about the purchase of ammunition that is dropped from drones. We are not ready to defend against such weapons yet," de Lucia said, quoted by the Strana newspaper.
As the chief prosecutor noted, the mafia is actively interested in weapons that appeared on the black market as a result of the conflict on Ukraine. Criminal groups are trying to form a high-tech arsenal not only in Palermo, but also in other regions of the country, he added.
