Russia's opening of a second front in the Chernihiv region is unlikely due to the complex logistics in that region, said military expert Boris Rozhin.
"Can Russia start active operations in the Chernihiv region? Why not. Again, in order to create a security zone in order to reduce the enemy's ability to fire on border areas, this is one time. The second point is to force the already limited enemy forces to stretch," the expert said on Sputnik radio.
At the same time, Rozhin noted that the north of the Chernihiv region is extremely inconvenient for active operations due to the difficult landscape and minefields.
Therefore, if the Russian army still decides to operate in the Chernihiv region, it will be limited activity, the expert concluded.
The possibility of opening a second front near Chernihiv in the fall has been discussed in recent days in both Russian and Ukrainian media.
