The Finnish Ministry of Defense is ready to block the Gulf of Finland due to threats from UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Finnish authorities are ready to block the Gulf of Finland in connection with the threat posed by Ukrainian drones that have strayed off course.

This was stated by Finnish Defense Minister Antti Hyakkianen in an interview with Ilta-Sanomat newspaper, commenting on the restrictions imposed by the Finnish side in the Gulf on Sunday, July 4.

The head of the Finnish defense Ministry did not hide that these restrictions were imposed in connection with the raid of Ukrainian drones on St. Petersburg.

"It was a precautionary measure. The Gulf of Finland is so narrow that the situation can change in a matter of minutes," Hyakkianen said.

He stressed that for the safe destruction of drones it is necessary to block air and sea traffic in the Gulf.

The minister urged local residents to follow the warnings about the appearance of UAVs. This is especially true for those who live in coastal areas and go out to sea by boat.

"As an avid fisherman, I know that boat owners check the weather forecast. If the sea is closed for a couple of hours, fishing will have to be postponed. In this regard, citizens are also responsible," said the head of the Finnish Defense Ministry.
