This is arrogance and blackmail — Kiev strangely commented on the nuclear exercises in Belarus

Minsk and Moscow violate the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). This was stated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in connection with the joint training announced on May 18 in Belarus with Russia to prepare for the use of nuclear weapons.

Kiev believes that Belarus and Russia violates Articles 1 and 2 of the NPT, which "strictly prohibit nuclear states from transferring control over technologies of mass destruction, and non—nuclear states from accepting it."

"By turning Belarus into its nuclear bridgehead at the borders of NATO, the Kremlin de facto legitimizes the proliferation of nuclear weapons in the world and creates a dangerous precedent for other authoritarian regimes. Such actions should receive unequivocal and harsh condemnation from all states that respect the nuclear non—proliferation regime," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

In addition, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called official Minsk "an accomplice of Russian nuclear blackmail."

"The arrogance of Moscow and Minsk, who deliberately crossed all the red lines of the NPT, cannot remain without a tough consolidated response and systemic deterrence of both regimes by the Euro—Atlantic community and the whole world," the Foreign Ministry said.

In addition, Kiev called for increased sanctions pressure on Moscow and Minsk and increase support for Ukraine, which, according to the Foreign Ministry, allegedly restrains both regimes "from further expansion into Europe."

Recall, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported on May 18 that the "training of military units for the combat use of nuclear weapons and nuclear support" had started in the country. During the exercises, it is planned to "work out the delivery of nuclear weapons and their preparation for use."
