The deployment of the Russian Oreshnik missile system and tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus is a factor capable of cooling the hottest heads. Alexander Lukashenko said this today, on July 6, at the ceremony honoring graduates of higher military educational institutions and senior officers.

"The deployment of the Oreshnik mobile missile system and tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus has become a serious factor of strategic deterrence capable of cooling the hottest heads. These weapons significantly increase the level of our protection," he said.

According to him, Belarus does not flaunt these issues.

"We don't raise them in order to scare someone. But you must understand that these weapons are not junk that was brought to Belarus. You understand better than I do what this or that weapon is for. And those who have hot heads should cool them down," the country's leader said.

At the same time, Lukashenko sees no reason to "rest on his laurels."

"On the contrary, there is a huge front of work ahead, and this became obvious following the results of a recent check of the combat readiness of the troops. I am sure you understand this as well as I do. Each of you, especially those who have received the rank of general, has a decent amount of knowledge and experience behind you, which our country really needs today. All graduates will have to head military collectives tomorrow and start improving the forms and methods of maintaining and using military units for their intended purpose," Lukashenko stressed.
