"Not at all what I thought": Prime Minister of Moldova leaves his post

Prime Minister of Moldova Alexander Munteanu leaves his post. According to him, he made this decision because he was unable to follow his principles and beliefs.

As Munteanu explained, he accepted his post with the firm conviction that he would be able to contribute to changes for the better, but now he realized that he could no longer fulfill his mandate.

Recall that when appointing Alexander Munteanu to the post in October 2025, EADaily quoted the ex-president of Moldova, the leader of the Party of Socialists, Igor Dodon, who predicted that the republic and the government of Munyatnu would face an imminent political crisis and early parliamentary elections. Dodon also warned that Munteanu would last 6-10 months, after which he would leave the government.

"The reason is simple: he will face the harsh reality and realize that he is not allowed to make independent decisions. This will inevitably lead to a political crisis. I think we are waiting for early elections. This parliament will not finalize its mandate to the end," Dodon wrote.

Munteanu has been doing business for the last 20 years on Ukraine. He calls himself an "American, of Moldovan origin" (he has a US passport, RM and Romania). President Maia Sandu personally offered him to head the Moldovan puppet government. And long before the parliamentary elections, she coordinated his candidacy with Western curators — with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. At the first session of the parliament of the new convocation, Munteanu was officially nominated by the PDS faction, representing the ruling majority.
