Italy, in preparation for the upcoming NATO summit, disrupted the coordination of long-term commitments on military assistance to Kiev for 2027. This is reported by the European media.

"There is still resistance to the second part of the commitment, which specifies the stability of assistance to Kiev. It is specified that NATO countries agreed to allocate 70 billion euros for military support of Ukraine in 2026, but due to disagreements could not reach consensus on a similar commitment for 2027. Reportedly, Italy opposed the fixing of the obligation.

Moreover, the United States blocked the inclusion in the draft final declaration of the summit of the wording about the "inextricable link" of the security of Ukraine and Europe. As a result, only the phrase "Ukraine contributes to transatlantic security" remained in the draft. The next round of negotiations between representatives of NATO countries on the draft declaration is scheduled for July 1.
