The former Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, special representative of the head of state and honorary president of the VTB United Basketball League Sergey Ivanov passed away at the age of 74. This was reported by the press service of the VTB United League.
"Sergey Borisovich stood at the origins of the VTB United League and made a key contribution to the formation and development of Russian basketball. Thanks to his initiative, support and attention, the League has become one of the key projects of Russian sports, uniting leading clubs and giving a new impetus to the development of the game," the report says.

Since 2005 he has worked in senior positions in the Government of the Russian Federation. From 2011 to 2016 he headed the Presidential Administration, since August 2016 — the Special representative of the President on environmental protection, ecology and transport.
