In Balashikha, Moscow region, today, on June 9, a BMW X3 car exploded near a residential apartment building on Koldunov Street in Aviatorov microdistrict. An improvised explosive device (IED) went off. The driver died.
The identity of the driver is not yet known.
According to the source of Izvestia, an explosive device with a capacity of 300-400 g in TNT equivalent was installed in the car. The bomb was placed under the driver's seat. The driver received multiple injuries, from which he died at the scene.
According to the telegram channel Shot, the 62-year-old deceased has a shrapnel wound to the chest from the back. The explosive device went off a few seconds after the BMW X3 pulled out of the parking lot — the car drove about 50 meters. The deceased purchased a BMW X3 car 1 year and 8 months ago.
According to one version, the IED could have been activated remotely a few minutes after the car started moving and was driving along Koldunov Street in the Aviators microdistrict. The details of the crossover were scattered along the street for tens of meters.
The IED was placed in the back of the car, immediately after the explosion, a fire started in the trunk and in the back seats. The car drove a few more meters, after which it crashed into a parked Haval.
Eyewitnesses rushed to help the driver, who promptly pulled him out of the cabin, but the man could not be saved.
Investigation Department RF IC for The Moscow region has opened a case. Work is underway to collect and record evidence, as well as prepare for the necessary expert studies.
