Athletes from Poland may not be allowed to participate in the next Olympic Games

In connection with the arrest of the President of the Polish Olympic Committee (PKOI) Radoslaw Pesiewicz, athletes from Poland may not be allowed to participate in the next Olympic Games. This is reported by the Onet portal with reference to the letter of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

In the letter sent to PKOI, the IOC offers three options for getting out of this situation. The first provides for the voluntary resignation of Pesevich, the second — the suspension of his powers by the decision of the leadership of the organization. The third option involves the intervention of the IOC, which may lead to the suspension of Poland's membership in the organization. In this case, Polish athletes will not be able to participate in the Olympic Games.

Recall, the Polish prosecutor's office opened a criminal case against the cryptocurrency company Zondacrypto in connection with fraud and money laundering in the amount of 350 million zlotys ($ 95 million) in April 2026. On August 29, the court in Katowice decided to arrest Pesevich for three months, who was charged with two crimes — lobbying for the interests of Zondacrypto in The Office for Competition Protection and Consumer Protection in exchange for watches worth 170 thousand zlotys ($ 46 thousand), as well as using connections in the firm to withdraw about 200 thousand euros from cryptocurrency accounts before its bankruptcy in April 2026. According to the charges, he faces up to eight years in prison. Pesevich himself pleads not guilty.
