China has launched a special maritime law enforcement operation in the waters east of Taiwan, the CGTN TV channel reports with reference to the statement of the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China.
"The Chinese Ministry of Transport has launched a special maritime law enforcement operation in the waters east of the Chinese island of Taiwan," the report said.
The operation is aimed at approving Beijing's administrative jurisdiction in waters, strengthening deep-sea patrols, as well as regulating shipping.
It is noted that the prerequisite was a unilateral statement by Japan and the Philippines on the start of negotiations on the delimitation of the border in the region. China regarded this as a serious violation of its territorial sovereignty, maritime rights and interests.
Beijing considers Taiwan to be an integral part of the PRC, and compliance with the "one China" principle is a prerequisite for other states wishing to establish or maintain diplomatic relations with the country.
