Swedish Migration Minister Johan Forssell urged The EU will refuse temporary protection to Ukrainians of military age. This is reported by The Guardian.

This was stated by Forssell at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.

"In order for the war to be won, it is extremely important that more men stay on the Ukraine and fought," explained the Swedish minister, quoted by "Время.иа ".

The minister noted that he does not want to see "shopping weekends and trips to European resorts while Ukrainians are dying on the battlefield."

According to Forssell, the restrictions may apply only to new applicants, but will not affect those who are already under temporary protection in the European Union. Today, more than 4.3 million citizens of Ukraine have this status, most of whom live in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.

It is noted that to change the current temporary protection mechanism, a decision of the European Commission and the approval of the EU countries will be required. According to The Guardian, colleagues generally supported the proposal to restrict access to temporary protection for Ukrainian men of military age, but the decision has not yet been made.
