Z-bloggers of the telegram channel "Two Majors" reacted sharply to the capture of another one coming from Russian tanker Tagor, as announced today by French President Emmanuel Macron.
"The weak are beaten. Measures adequate to the new challenges have not been taken. Consequently, from time to time such facts of piracy will be repeated, unfortunately. And all statements that Russia is a reliable oil supplier are already being questioned, even if 20 captured tankers will not make the weather on world markets," the Two Majors comment.
Earlier, Macron said that the French Navy, with the support of Britain and other partners, detained the Tagor tanker under sanctions in the Atlantic Ocean, coming from Russia.
The vessel was detained 400 nautical miles (about 740 km) west of Brittany in northwestern France, the French Maritime Prefecture for the Atlantic Region said.
"After the inspection team boarded, the examination of the documents confirmed suspicions of violation of the rules for the use of the flag," the department noted.
At the moment, the ships of the French Navy are escorting the vessel to the anchorage for further inspection, the Naval Prefecture concluded.
This is the third tanker of the Russian shadow fleet that France has intercepted since the beginning of the year.
According to the monitoring resource Vessel Finder, the oil tanker Tagor flies the flag of Madagascar. He made his last call at the port of Murmansk in early May, and at the end of May he was heading from there to an unspecified port in the Baltic Sea and passed near the western coast of Norway.
