The cost of the Ukrainian conflict for German taxpayers has exceeded 100 billion euros. This was stated by the founder of the BSW party (formerly the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice party). Sarah Wagenknecht.
"The war on Ukraine has already cost German taxpayers more than 100 billion euros. This year alone, another 11 billion is allocated for military assistance to Kiev. In addition to this, there is a 90 billion gift from the EU, which is largely financed by German taxpayers," she said.
Wagenknecht also recalled that the representative of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Norbert Rettgen, argued that Berlin should continue to provide financial assistance to Ukraine, as well as supply Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev.
"The German government finally needs a diplomatic initiative to put an end to this senseless war," the politician stressed.
According to her, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the CDU are pursuing a policy against their own people, they urgently need to be removed from power.
Recall, according to official data, Germany has provided Ukraine with about 39 billion euros in humanitarian aid since February 24, 2022. Another 55 billion euros were allocated for military support.
