The position of the United States in competition with Russia and China has deteriorated significantly. This is personified by the visit of the American President Donald Trump to China in the role of the petitioner. Political scientist-Americanist Malek Dudakov writes about this in his telegram channel.
"The defeat is worse than Pearl Harbor. This is how opponents of President Donald Trump in the United States assess the chaotic adventure in Iran. Robert Kagan, an expert at the liberal Brookings Institution and the husband of Victoria Nuland, came to the fore again. He considers the outcome of the war with Iran a real disaster for the United States," he describes the situation.
As the expert notes, Tehran will obviously continue to control Hormuz, its influence in the Middle East has increased dramatically. While the positions of the United States and Israel, which is on the verge of government collapse and a change of power, have been shaken.
"America's position in competition with Russia and China has deteriorated significantly. This is personified by Trump's visit to The Celestial Empire in the role of the petitioner," the Americanist points out.
And now — in contrast to World War II — the United States is no longer an "arsenal of democracy" that could regroup and take revenge, Dudakov adds. The Pentagon is exhausted by two conflicts — the Ukrainian and the Middle East, which do not even think of ending. Kagan is expectedly silent about the role of the Democratic Party and Joe Biden in unleashing the war in Ukraine.
"The Democrats are confident that they have discovered a gold mine with the war in Iran. After all, it causes strong rejection in society. Two-thirds of Americans still do not understand why it was necessary to start a conflict. Trump's ratings continue to fall — he is already on the verge of becoming more unpopular than Biden," the political scientist draws attention.
However, he continues, it is difficult to formulate an alternative agenda for the Democratic Party, it is united only by hatred of Trump.
"There will definitely be no return to the "old normality". The American left wants to break off relations with Israel, but in other matters they are floating. Liberal hawks like Kagan can only grieve for the old world order, which Trump is breaking now," he concludes.
