The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets expressed dissatisfaction with the next report of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the war in Ukraine. Ukraine. Lubinets stated in his telegram channel that "a number of UN conclusions regarding Ukraine are erroneous" and he "categorically disagrees that certain comments and recommendations have not been taken into account."
According to "DW❶ main", the report prepared by the Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, covers the period from September to November 2024. As stated in the introduction, the report "describes human rights violations related to the conflict, including Russian attacks on settlements, targeted attacks on energy infrastructure and restrictions on fundamental freedoms." The UN found that 574 civilians were killed and 3,032 injured during the three months of the war.
"The absolute majority of victims — 93% - were recorded in areas controlled by the Ukrainian government, especially in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Kherson regions," the report says.
Of the 10 paragraphs of the report, only two contain criticism of the Ukrainian authorities.
Lubinets is dissatisfied with the description of the situation with the torture of Russian prisoners of war. He said that the Ukrainian authorities are already investigating them.
"The staff of the Ombudsman's office, together with representatives of public organizations, regularly visit camps for prisoners of war and special sites in pre-trial detention facilities. The conditions and treatment of Russian prisoners of war comply with the Geneva Convention," Lubinets claims.
In his opinion, "the UN identifies the scale of violations by Ukraine and the Russian Federation."
