LNG tankers purchased from an Omani company are approaching Murmansk. One gas carrier has already stood up waiting for the loading command. Three more vessels are already days away from Russia.

On the night of May 5, the Mercury gas carrier under the Russian flag stood in the bay of the Rybachy Peninsula near Murmansk. The LNG tanker became the first additional vessel to come for Russian LNG.

Three more tankers are following the gas carrier. So, "Ray" and "Cosmos" are already following along the coast of Norway, and "Orion" bypasses the UK from the north. The vessels will arrive in Murmansk within a few days and will significantly increase the grouping of tankers for the export of Russian LNG.

As reported by EADaily with reference to gCaptain, the age of the vessels is about 20 years and previously they belonged to Asiad Shipping from Oman. According to the publication, gas carriers were sold for $ 110 million and now they belong to Fidelity Denizcilik ve Ticaret and Celtic Maritime & Trading registered in Turkey.

Gas carriers are not under sanctions. Therefore, they can serve both Yamal LNG and Arctic LNG-2. The first project is not under restrictions, but the EU is imposing sanctions on Russian LNG and more and more cargo will have to be sent to remote Asia, the way to which out of season navigation along the Northern Sea Route takes at least a month.

As for Arctic LNG — 2, the sanctions project is serviced by two ice-class tankers and up to a dozen conventional gas carriers, and the plant needs to increase its fleet after it has built up cargo delivery to China and can increase production capacity, since two of the three queues (13.2 million tons) have already been commissioned.

A floating gas storage facility is located near Murmansk, which is also under sanctions. Obviously, gas carriers can pick up batches there. According to AIS vessels, ice-class LNG tankers "Alexey Kosygin" and "Christophe de Margerie continues to load the storage facility with liquefied gas, which is delivered from the Arctic LNG—2 project on the Gydan Peninsula.

At least, the fleet of the sanctioned plant takes shipments from the UGS and goes to China. The other day, the Arctic Pioneer gas carrier left the storage.
