Military expert Vasily Dandykin in an interview with News.ru He assessed the ability of the Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) of Soviet production to shoot down the Neptune subsonic cruise missile at the disposal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to Dandykin, the old and proven "workhorses" are still in service and are effective.
"Pantsir-S1 successfully shoots down Neptune missiles. Buk-M3 also destroys them. These complexes are our workhorses. Tor-M2 is also quite effective. Even the same Osa-AKM air defense system, still of Soviet design, works effectively against the Ukrainian Neptune," the expert believes.
It is also important that the basis of the Ukrainian rocket is still Soviet development. Ukraine has developed the Neptune based on the X-35 anti-ship missile originally from the USSR.
EADaily previously also informed that the drone operators of the Russian Ministry of Defense have launched a new "Koshchei".
