The US Armed Forces destroyed two aircraft — HC-130J and MC-130J — and two MH-6M helicopters from the 160th Special Forces Aviation Regiment in Iran during the evacuation of the second ejected pilot from the downed F-15 Strike Eagle. This is reported by CENTCOM.
It is noted that these vehicles received significant damage as a result of shelling from MANPADS, small arms and heavy weapons and mortars during the US operation to rescue the crew, so they were destroyed so that they would not get to the enemy.
The pilot and personnel of the Delta division were evacuated by three MC-130J aircraft, CENTCOM added.
As EADaily reported, in terms of the scale of technical losses, the operation to rescue the pilots of the downed F-15 Strike Eagle is one of the most expensive episodes since Eagle Claw. Politician Oleg Tsarev writes about this in his telegram channel.
