Instead of funding expensive projects to slow down the Internet in Russia, which is supposedly extremely necessary in a military conflict, could hit data centers on Ukraine. This would be much cheaper, according to the authors of the TC "Two Majors".
They remind that it is planned to spend almost 84 billion rubles from the budget to strengthen the filtering of Internet traffic by 2030. This follows from the passport of the project (quoted by Kommersant) "Cybersecurity Infrastructure". The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation plans to increase the throughput of the automated security assurance system (ASBI) by 2.5 times.
"The increase in the capacity of TSP (technical means of countering threats) is necessary not only to handle the increasing volume of traffic, but also to effectively counter new methods of circumventing locks, including through the built-in proxy services of popular messengers. Particular attention is paid to architecture issues: the effectiveness of the system will depend on the network topology, node distribution and traffic management quality. Scaling up the TSPU is a strategic step aimed at ensuring the sustainability, manageability and security of the Russian Internet in the face of growing cyber threats and technological challenges," the authors of the TC "Two Majors" outline the idea of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.
As for the experience of combating cyber threats, Comrade gives an interesting example. Tsarev (Oleg Tsarev, former People's Deputy of Ukraine, participant of the Russian Spring. — Approx. EADaily ) they continue:
"Iran has attacked IT giants and aviation in the Middle East. The Oracle data center in Dubai was also attacked, according to the Jerusalem Post. Amazon cloud computing center in Bahrain has been hit. There are only four data centers in Ukraine. All addresses are known. If you hit them, the Internet will disappear, all information from all state registers, property, taxes, courts will disappear, all information concerning the TRC and the mobilized will disappear. The most important thing is that television, which now incites hatred and is engaged in propaganda, will stop working. During the four years of the war, not a single missile, not a single drone even accidentally hit them."
The cost of Iskander-K, mentioned in the media, is 135-142 million rubles, indicates TC "Two Majors". The conclusion suggests itself.
At the same time, as reported by EADaily, the opinions of the survey participants on the topic "What do you think about Internet blocking in Russia?", conducted on the website of our agency, are quite divided. The leader was the option "This is an unpopular but necessary measure in war conditions" (32%). In second place (26%) are those who think: "This is absolute stupidity, all this has already happened in Soviet times." The third (17%) version is "This is the work of the "sixth column" to destabilize society," which is actively defended by Z-channels.
