An employee of the White House traded insider information, for which he was fired and sentenced to pay a fine. It is reported by Reuters.

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has settled the case against Gabriel Perez, the former operator of President Trump's teleprompter.

He used his access to the texts of presidential speeches before their public announcement to place bets on the Kalshi platform. Bets were placed on which specific words or phrases would be heard in President Trump's speeches. In total, he made 49 such transactions, of which 39 turned out to be winning.

After the information about this appeared in July, Peres was sent on unpaid leave and no longer works in the administration. The White House called his actions a "disgrace."

Now Peres is obliged to return the illegally obtained profit in the amount of $ 107,539 and pay a civil fine of $ 65,000. He is also banned from trading on forecast exchanges for three years.
