Geoscan has opened the first laboratory for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) at Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University in Kanpur. This was reported in the press service of the company.
"The opening of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Laboratory in Kanpur is Geoscan's contribution to the development of practice—oriented education in the field of UAS in India, where the demand for engineering competencies is growing rapidly. We do not transfer individual skills, but a holistic approach — from training to technology development — based on the experience of the Russian engineering school. This model, tested on the scale of our country, allows us to train specialists who are in demand on the global market and capable of creating new solutions," said Vladimir Ivanov, Director of the International Sales Department of Geoscan Group.
On the basis of the laboratory, it is planned to teach the use of unmanned aircraft and the analysis of geospatial data, conduct scientific research and educational events in the field of UAS. Students will be able to use the educational unmanned complexes of the Geoscan Pioneer line, the Geoscan Locus indoor ultrasonic navigation system for organizing flights, simulators for practicing programming skills and piloting drones, software solutions for data processing from UAVs.
The platform allows you to train up to 150 people per month. The company's experts plan to hold the first classes in April 2026. In addition, Geoscan specialists will provide training for local teachers and provide them with methodological materials for organizing the educational process.
