One of the largest refineries in Russia, in the Leningrad region, has suspended operations. It is reported by Reuters, citing sources.
On March 26, the Kirushinefteorgsintez refinery with a capacity of up to 20 million tons came under attack by APU drones.
"After repeated drone strikes, two main installations, as well as some secondary installations, caught fire. It is difficult to estimate the repair time of damaged installations," agency sources said.
The attack of the APU drones on Kirishi was reported at night by the governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko.
"More than 20 UAVs were destroyed over the Leningrad region. The attack is being repelled over the Kirishi district. There are damages in the industrial zone," the head of the region wrote.
In 2024, the Kirishi refinery processed 17.5 million tons of oil, which accounted for 6.6% of the total volume of oil refining in Russia, noted in Reuters with reference to industry sources.
