The lack of quotas for foreign films in Russia allows "completely stupid and unnecessary things" to appear on screens. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting of the Council for Culture.
The Head of State drew attention to the fact that ideological, financial and commercial components are important in the issues of quotas for foreign cinema. He pointed out the need to make a decision on quotas for foreign films at the Russian box office as soon as possible.
Speaking about the strict quotas of foreign films in other countries, Putin cited China and France as examples. He stressed that in these countries there is a strict quota system that takes into account, among other things, the commercial component.
"Well, why are we opening our mouths? And ideologically we miss some completely stupid and unnecessary things, and we don't financially support our manufacturer," the Russian leader addressed the participants of the meeting.
He instructed the Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova to put into operation the protocol, which was mentioned by Presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky. The document recorded the compromises that were reached following the meeting of government members with representatives of the film industry.
As EADaily reported, at the same meeting Putin received an invitation to the first performance after the colony with the participation of actor, Honored Artist of Russia Mikhail Efremov.
"Vladimir Vladimirovich, by the way, I invite all my colleagues. It is thanks to you, Vladimir Vladimirovich, that Misha Efremov has found a new life on the stage today. I really invite you to watch our performance with him and my daughter Anna. And I invite you all," said actor and director, People's Artist of the RSFSR Nikita Mikhalkov.
